Mitchell & Area Mobility Bus History

Mitchell & Area Mobility Bus began transporting clients in West Perth in 1985. It started as a result of a seniors’ needs study conducted in 1984 which indicated a need for specialized transportation services. The service was officially launched on October 1, 1985 with one service day. The service operated with one vehicle until 1994 at which time a van was purchased to meet growing client demand. Service days over the years expanded from one to five days per week as well as service being available for charter trips outside of service hours as requested by clients.

In 2022, the name Mitchell & Area Mobility Bus was changed to West Perth Transit to reflect the growing Municipality of West Perth as well as meet the changing needs of our community to remain accessible to residents in order to meet their transportation needs.
