In 1987, Ritz Lutheran Villa formalized an agreement with the province (now the Long Term Care Division of the Ministry of Health) to coordinate programs to meet the needs of seniors still living on their own in the community. These programs operate under the organization Mitchell & Area Community Outreach, which is under the umbrella of Ritz Lutheran Villa. Services in 1987 included meals, dining programs, friendly visiting, transportation to medical appointments, home assistance and information and referral service. The Outreach program also managed Mitchell & Area Mobility Bus under an agreement with the local municipalities and funding from the Ministry of Transportation and local service organizations.
